After Thanksgiving break, Christmas is coming soon. Christmas is a time of not only family getting together but also sharing of Christmas gifts. However, Christmas shopping can be an expensive and stressful experience for many people. So, here are some tips that may help you save for holiday shopping.

First of all, make an organized shopping list saves time, makes shopping trips more efficiently, and prevents you from forgetting buying something. You can list all the stores that you need to visit, and write down what items need to be purchased under each store’s name.

Secondly, some stores usually provide discounts early before the holiday season, and to shop ahead of time can be a significant saving. Also, coupons are everywhere. Save the coupons you need and pay attention to the expiration dates. It may be a good idea to shop for Christmas cards immediately after the holiday, because cards are usually sold for half of their original prices. Then, for the next Christmas you will be all set.

Thirdly, avoid shopping at weekends when stores are often most crowded. Instead, shop on weekdays and during the daytime if possible. If you see something in a store that is perfect for your mother, buy it there so that you don’t waste time coming back again.

Last but not least, money has nothing to do with the value of the gifts. Creating presents by yourself, such as cookies, ornaments or creative crafts, can be much more meaningful to the people who receive them. Your thoughts and efforts will make your gifts much more special.

  2. Take it from me, Christmas shopping is best done far in advance. Don’t go to stores the weekends before Christmas expecting a smooth shopping experience, expect a headache. I also agree that going with an organized list will make the experience more efficient. This is a very nice list of tips.

  3. I totally agree that people should start their Christmas shopping early, because stores are getting busier and busiest as it get closer to Christmas day. Preparing a list of stuffs that you have to buy is a good way to save you from going back and forth.

  4. These are all great tips for Christmas shopping. Every year I have trouble because I wait until the last minute to get a gift for my family. I agree the cost of the gift shouldn’t matter as long as the thought is there. That is what should count the most. To start shopping early for gifts is always an advantage because then you will be able to narrow it down.

  5. I went with my mom to Lord & Taylor. They were having a pre-sale. I think it was brilliant of the store to do so. If you bought an item after buying a ticket for 5 dollars, you got 15% off the item. So many women bought items at the pre-sale and Lord & Taylor made a killing.

  6. Most people won’t be able to spend as much on presents this Christmas because of the economy, making the last tip the most important. Although it takes some thinking, hand-made presents can be the cheapest and most meaningful. A picture collage or framed poem are a couple other ideas that can turn out really great.

  7. I also agree that people should start their Christmas shopping early. By the time Christmas comes around stores are getting busier and busiest. Making a list of things you need is very helpful. This also goes for people shopping for Hanukah gifts.
