Why would stores focus offer such steep discounts on only one day when such policies result mass hysteria every year? While many customers turn out each year for the madness which is Black Friday, others are turned away by the crowded stores and irrational behavior of other shoppers. Further, why are so many people drawn to Black Friday deals only to save, at most, a few hundred dollars. The people who stay overnight seem completely irrational - don't they consider their opportunity cost? If you camp outside from 9 pm Thursday wait for stores to open at 6 am on Friday, you've wasted 9 hours of your life unless you save at least $135 (that is assuming you would not be able to save as much not unless you camped out and you earn at least $15 per hour).
