St. Louis Blues Start Their Own Homeowner “Bailout” Program

By: Greg Leonst_louis_blues

The NHL’s St. Louis Blues have started a promotion called “Fannie and Freddie Mortgage Saturday” where one fan chosen at random during a Saturday home game will recieve four months of mortgage or rent payments up to $1,000 per month. Along with this promotion, the team will also offer reduced ticket prices for these games.

This promotion also comes at a time where the NHL is doing surprisingly well, the league set an attendance record for the month of October averaging over 17,000 fans per game which is a 3.1% increase from this time last season. The tough economic times have made it harder for sports teams to gain fans discretionary dollars, so promotions like these are going to become increasingly important for sports teams to maintain fan attendance.
