Nascar cutting cuts by kush5

Nascar has been slated as the new victim of the poor economy.  As Chairman of Nascar  Brian France stated there will be more aggressive cuts in the sport with hopes of it cutting cost due to the difficult economy: “NASCAR as an industry is not immune,We have to work very hard to be good partners and work through these challenging times.”.

France along with Nascar President Mike Helton already approached executives of the four car manufacturers to discuss how to handle the situation that they are being faced with.  Chrysler along with GM both recorded first quarter losses and are now trying to avoid bankruptcy with hopes of help from the Federal Government.  This has caused the auto manufacturers to lessen the team support and sponsorships that Nascar is well known for, so this will prove to have a dramatic affect on the association itself because the auto manufacturers play a a huge role with Nascar and its history.

  1. NASCAR and sports like it should really be suspended during times of economic recession. NASCAR is a sport of excess, and really shouldn’t be allowed to continue, especially when people are paying over $4.00 per gallon. Each NASCAR car uses hundreds of gallons of fuel per race, not to mention tires, thus these frivolous uses of resources should be stopped. Also, sorry NASCAR fans, but it’s a sport of left hand turns, and nothing else.
